A table adorned with 3D poppies is turning heads in the reception area of Broughton House – Veteran Care Village, in Salford, in honour of remembrance week, after being donated by a local parachute regiment.

The table was a gift from the Central Lancashire & Rochdale Parachute Regimental Association, which has helped Broughton House over many years with financial donations to help reduce the financial hardship of the cost of care, for former Parachute Regiment residents.

Its members decided to do something different to show their support and came up with the idea of this lovely gem.

The steel table, which used to be in a pub, has been decorated with the regiment’s emblem and a 3D display of poppies covered with an epoxy clear resin.

Rhys Edwards, fundraising and marketing manager at Broughton House, said: “The association’s connection with Broughton House has been strong for many years and this commemorative table is a fantastic example of their support.

“It’s currently in our reception area and I’ve yet to see anyone pass it without taking a closer look. It’s been finished incredibly well and, most importantly, our residents are over the moon with it, especially our ex-Paras Ossie Osborne and Jack Meyers.”

Broughton House is currently ongoing with plans to become the UK’s first veteran care village following a £12 million new build. This will see the introduction of: luxury retirement apartments, an armed forces support hub and 64 rooms for residential, nursing and respite care; exclusive to the ex-service community and their families.
