Dementia Care
Dementia Care for Veterans
Everyone’s experience of dementia is different. At Broughton House, we take the time to understand each veteran as an individual — their life story, routines, and preferences — so we can offer support that feels familiar, respectful, and reassuring.
Our 24-hour dementia care is shaped around the person, not just their diagnosis. Through meaningful activities, support from an Admiral Nurse, and calm routines that can help with sundowning, we create an environment where veterans feel safe and valued.
We also involve and support families, ensuring your loved one receives care that reflects who they are and how they want to live.

Our Approach to Dementia Care
PURPOSELY-DESIGNED DEMENTIA HOUSEHOLDS
Households are designed to be open-plan and familiar to maximise independence. Clear signage and a supportive environment improve orientation and safety, while memory boxes provide comfort.
ADMIRAL NURSE SUPPORT
Our Admiral Nurse works with each veteran, their family and our care team. Families can also access guidance, emotional support and signposting to helpful services.
SUNDOWNING SUPPORT
Through the day, some people living with dementia may feel unsettled. We learn each veteran’s routines, preferences and potential triggers so we can offer reassurance.
PERSON-CENTRED 24-HOUR CARE
Personal care is designed around each veteran. Our team supports familiar routines, meaningful moments and a sense of safety, dignity and belonging 24 hours a day.
