VETERAN PROFILE
Chris Graham
Army · Staff Sergeant

Born: 1976
Age of Signing Up: 16
Chris’ story is one of adventure, determination and resilience.
He had always dreamed of travelling, and the world opened up to him at 16 when he signed up to be a postal courier with the army.
A career soldier through and through, Chris served with the Royal Logistics Corps for 22 years, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was an Army PTI as well, respected by senior officers, and had also earned the right to wear the green beret and commando dagger after passing commando training.
A rare faulty gene meant Chris had a 50/50 chance of developing early familial Alzheimer’s disease, and unfortunately, the condition started to develop at the age of 39.
Determined not to let Alzheimer’s define him, Chris put everything into raising money for dementia charities. His biggest achievement was raising over £100,000 by cycling 16,000 miles along the coast of North America.
To this day, Alzheimer’s does not define Chris. The keen Man United fan still loves being active, getting out in nature, and revelling in the camaraderie found at Broughton House.
